Same period, very different buildings

Two sets of buildings for roughly the same time period (The Renaissance) - i.e. late 15th to early 16th Century.  One is a 1/300 Japanese castle for use with the Japanese samurai armies.

The other is a set of southern European buildings - a mix of Italian and Spanish - which I can use as a backdrop for the Italian Wars (specifically the Spanish and then Imperial Army in Italy up to and around 1520).

I need to do a few things to finish these off - the stonework in the castle needs to be picked out (see the left side of the castle to see what I mean).  Adding in a few discoloured stones makes the wall seem more 3-D and authentic.

The houses / churches need to have their roofs toned down to remove the terracotta pinkness.  The walls as well need to have a greying effect on them to age them better (and I need to paint in a few doors and stuff).  But generally they're ready for use!

Castle cost around £15 including postage - its a plastic kit so assembly and painting is required.

Japanese Castle - samurai heaven!

Southern European village - 2 churches to reflect the period!

  3. Nice, Phil! If you need more of those Japanese castles, let me know - there are loads of historical ones in the local hobby shops over here at pretty reasonable prices. I'd be happy to put a couple in a box and send them your way. Cheers, Aaron

  4. I remember painting exactly that Inuyama castle kit way back, almost ten years ago. A nicely painted version of one of my favourite castles! :)
